1. Who we are
LeafLens ("we", "us", "our") is an Android application developed by Yadnyesh Rana. You can contact us at yogirana5557@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. This is used solely to identify your account and sync your plant data across devices.
Plant data: Plant names, health scores, diagnosis results, notes, and watering schedules you create are stored in our database (Firebase Firestore) and linked to your account.
Plant photos: Photos you submit for diagnosis are sent to the Anthropic Claude API for AI analysis. Processed images may also be uploaded to Imgbb for display in your plant collection. We do not permanently retain raw photos on our servers beyond what is needed for display.
Usage data: We track scan counts per account to enforce the free tier limits. We use Firebase Analytics to understand general usage patterns (no personally identifiable information is included in analytics).
Device identifier: We use the Android device ID to enforce monthly scan quotas and prevent abuse. This ID is not linked to your identity.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the plant diagnosis service
- To sync your plant collection across devices (signed-in users only)
- To send watering reminders you have set up
- To enforce free tier scan limits and Pro subscription access
- To process payments via Google Play Billing (we never see your payment card details)
- To respond to support requests you send us
4. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only with the following service providers to operate LeafLens:
- Anthropic (Claude API) — processes your plant photos for AI diagnosis. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to their handling of API requests.
- Google Firebase — database, authentication, and analytics. Google's privacy policy applies.
- Imgbb — image hosting for your plant photos. Imgbb's terms apply.
- Google Play — payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
5. Data retention
Your account and plant data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (plants, diagnosis history, photos) is permanently deleted within 30 days. You can request deletion at any time via the in-app Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing us.
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time (Settings → Privacy)
7. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including Firebase security rules that restrict data access to authenticated account owners, HTTPS for all data transmission, and API key protection. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
8. Children's privacy
LeafLens is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
